The National Museum of Resistance and Freedom – Peniche Fortress, celebrates the aniversary of the Revolution of 25th of April 1974, with a contemporary art exhibition dedicated to Aristides de Sousa Mendes. This exhibition, within the scope of the cultural program of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, has the particularity of uniting people and wills from five different countries – Portugal, France, Germany, USA and Canada – around the recognition of Aristides as a resistant and a hero. A Video Sculpture, by Werner Klotz, is the centerpiece of the Museum’s first international exhibition. The exhibition “CHANDELIER ASM – Aristides de Sousa Mendes: Exile for Life” opened to the public on April 27th, and can be visited until October 31st.
