The National Museum of Resistance and Freedom is meant to preserve the historical memory of the Peniche Fortress, the fight of the Portuguese People and, in particular, their Resistance to Dictatorship for Freedom and Democracy.
Adopting the slogan “Always Remember” the Museum is developing a civic and human rights educational project, aiming the identification, inventory and musealization of places of memory in Peniche linked to Solidarity, Repression and Resistance during the fascist Portuguese regime.
Within the project and corresponding to its initial phase, the Museum presents the Itinerary “Peniche: Houses of Solidarity, Oppression and Resistance”.
